HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The Wynyard Estate began life as the ancestral home of the Marquess of Londonderry. Before Sir John Hall purchased it in 1987, the Estate was a working estate for hundreds of years. Its 6000 acres of productive farmland, dairy farm, and living quarters supported the surrounding communities and the Londonderry family. Up until the late 20th century, the Londonderry family occupied Wynyard Hall, set in the heart of the landscape.

A NEW WAY OF LIVING

Upon its purchase in 1986, North East entrepreneur Sir John Hall set upon his vision, inspired by American gated communities, to create a new way of living. A haven where business, leisure and residences could come together in a unique and unrivalled setting. Complete with 18-hole golf course, village centre, country pub and local shops, all surrounded by historic parkland and countryside, the Wynyard Estate was born.
